Fans can get closer in
touch with Elvis by visiting the Heartbreak Hotel (completely renovated
in 1998), named after the king's first million-selling single in
1965.
Visitors will appreciate the uniquely "Elvis" inspired decor of
this intimate, 128 room boutique hotel that takes its cues from
the legendary hospitality and personal style of Elvis and that can
be viewed in his home, Graceland. Each of the guest rooms features
gold-flecked royal blue carpet and custom draperies that accent
the blue and gold harlequin prints of the bedspreads. The walls,
in a soft golden cream, are accented with black and white photos
of Elvis.
The hotel also boasts four suites, The Graceland that reproduces
a sense of living at the mansion; The Hollywood Suite, art deco
inspired recalling the golden era when Elvis became a movie star;
The Gold and Platinum Suite with its 50s and 60's style decor complete
with replica gold records on the wall and soft metal tones throughout;
and The Burnin' Love suite filled with rich, red, romantic decors.
Winners of the sweepstakes will be given their choice of suite accommodations
based on their availability at the time of reservation. Each guest
room and suite includes a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave
for creating your own Elvis inspired late-night snacks. Winners
will also enjoy a stop at Elvis Presley's Memphis restaurant featuring
Mother Presley's much-loved meatloaf, excellent Southern Cuisine
and the infamous peanut butter and banana sandwich, a special favorite
to Elvis.
"The restaurant is on Beale Street, in an old building that used
to be Lansky's Clothing store where Elvis shopped for his colorful
apparel," said Ms. Burgess. "It was the cool place where the performers
hung out downtown."
The restaurant features live entertainment almost nightly and a
Sunday Gospel Brunch.
Sweepstakes entry forms can be found at Sam Goody, Sun Coast, One
Cue and Media Play stores across the U.S.
"We are doing a product pull together, creating special spaces in
the stores featuring the music and movies of Elvis," said Mike Dinndorf,
Spokesperson, MusicLand, Inc. "Elvis is an icon that most people
know of. If you are a baby boomer, you have a personal connection
with the King while others may only know him through his recordings,
and we have all of them."
