ELVIS LIVES
By Jacquie Kubin

SWEEPSTAKES NEWS Elvis Presley, "The King of Rock 'n' Roll," may have passed away August 16,1977 but his life and music continue to be celebrated every chance fans get.

Turner Classic Movies, Musicland, Inc. stores (which include Sam Goody, Sun Coast, One Cue and Media Play), Gibson Guitars and RCA are commemorating his career through a month long film-festival, televised tour of Graceland and a "King-Sized "Burnin' Love for Elvis" sweepstakes with an estimated value of over $7,000.

"This sweepstakes combines so many elements of Elvis Presley's life with the things that he loved," said Jennifer Burgess, Director of Marketing, Elvis Presley Enterprises (www.elvis-presley.com).

Winners will be flown on Northwest Airlines to Memphis for a personal VIP tour of Graceland, a two-night stay at the Elvis themed Heartbreak Hotel, dinner for two at the Elvis Presley's Memphis restaurant, and a special edition Gibson acoustic guitar. Second place winners will also win a Gibson guitar and an RCA Box Set of music "That's The Way It Is".

Scheduling their tribute to coincide with Graceland's "Elvis Week" activities, August 10 through 16, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will be showing an Elvis Presley double feature each Sunday night in August beginning at 8:00 PM (EST).

"Elvis changed music and he had a big impact on motion pictures as well," said Gloria Avillar Director of Marketing, Special Events of Turner Classic Movies. "His movies stand the test of time from a network and a fan perspective. We are hoping that people who are Elvis fans will tune in, becoming fans of the Turner Classic Movies network as well."

TCM network host Robert Osborne and Elvis' long time friend George Klein will add to the films by providing feature introductions. These vignettes, shot from inside Graceland, will give new and long-time Elvis fans insights into the King's life.

Scotty Moore, guitarist, and D.J. Fontana, drummer, two members of Elvis' original band, The Blue Moon Boys, will be joining Klein in original pieces aired with the films. The RCA Studio B in Nashville, where Elvis did much of his recording, provides the backdrop.

Candid discussions will touch on Elvis' public and private personas and the effect Hollywood had on his musical career.
